Important date coming up: Father’s Day June 15th

Father’s day is approaching fast and if you haven’t yet thought of a card have a look in my gallery for inspiration. I have recently made some very simple male cards that can not only be used for Father’s Day but also for many other occasions.

Make new from old

As a crafter I’m always looking for new supplies to use on my projects but as money is also short I have to make the best of what I have and recycling is a very good way of saving money, avoiding waste and also doing my bit to help protect the environment.

I wrote a post today on how to make new buttons from old ones. Whenever I throw away old clothes I always check to see what I can use: buttons, zippers, ribbons that are still in good condition and sometimes even the fabric. As an example, I’ve been using some of my son’s old pyjamas as filling for potholders and wall hangings.

If you want to learn how you can cover your old buttons with fabric to give them a new lease of life follow this link: Cards by Paula

Am I a “mixed media” cardmaker?

I’ve heard of mixed media artists and have been wondering whether I’m a mixed media cardmaker! The thing is that more and more often I find myself using a mixture of materials when I make cards.

I have recently discovered how versatile and easy to work with felt can be and have been using it more and more on my cards and also on other items I make.

This is a card I made sometime ago and sold. I used handmade paper for the background, felt to make the flower and the grass, I sewed the stem and added a little glitter just so it stood out a little more, for the centre of the flower I used beads.

Spring cleaning

It’s been a while since I last posted something here, one of the reasons being that I wasn’t happy with it. So, today I decided to Spring clean this space and start from scratch.

That’s all for now.
